Heard Monday morning, on CBC radio, a portion of an interview with Mayor Hall: "I think what we will take a look at over the winter is being prepared just in case something like this (the fires) happens again in 2019."
Really, Mr. Mayor, you'll think? ... just in case? ... something like this happens again?
I believe those same thoughts were expressed in August 2017 - good intentions, but I'm sure most folk would have assumed a follow-through with a good plan in place.
From a July 2017 article in The Citizen headlined, "Filmon report to be basis for wildfire mitigation efforts," Premier Horgan "went on to say that report would be the basis for taking stock of what the consequences have been from the season's fires."
The Filmon report was written after the 2003 Okanagan fire and in May 2015 "the Forest Practices Board was highly critical of the slow progress made in B.C. since the report's release."
And now it is 2018 and Premier Horgan is in town and our Mayor Hall "is thinking!"
Stay with it, guys, and don't come out of your room until you have a plan.
