This is a letter to the person responsible for the fire on Old Cariboo Highway Friday afternoon. I don't know if you threw your still lit butt out the window, or if you thought you would try to do a "controlled burn" even if it was advised not to do any yard waste burning.
Not only did you put lives and property of others at risk because you did not think or prepare, but Blackburn school was to hold their major fundraiser Friday night. The school was shut down and the event postponed until Saturday because you put the school at risk.
Now many kids, like my young daughter who look forward to this major event every year, are pretty sad because family plans could not change to accommodate the event change and because the attendance was apparently less than half what was expected.
This fundraiser was going for playground equipment, basketball court and technology for the classrooms. Whoever you are, you owe the kids of Blackburn school an apology at the very least.
