Feeling the pinch

Regarding the front page item about rental properties feeling pinch in last Monday's Citizen, it might have been more aptly stated Tenants to feel fee pinch.

Regarding the front page item about rental properties feeling pinch in last Monday's Citizen, it might have been more aptly stated Tenants to feel fee pinch. All of the costs involved in the operation of these units is ultimately passed on to the tenant. Yes, maybe paid by the landlord but ultimately it's passed on to the tenant who pays. And this license fee, as sudden and brutal as it is, is no exception.

Excessive by any standard, compared with other jurisdictions and/or compared with other living quarters in the city. Come to think of it, why not tax all the living quarters in the city whether owner or tenant occupied and then, to save administrative costs, just add it to the property tax bill? If the city needs more cash why single out the tenants to pay increased city costs? And by the way I wonder just how much cash the city expects to harvest in this latest drill.
