I have been a Prince George cougar fan and season ticket holder since they came to Prince George in 1994. I remember the years when the stands were full and we had the best fans in the WHL.
I know everybody has been frustrated these past few years and it has certainly shown in the dwindling attendance. With the new ownership (all local), hopefully we can get it back to the way it was. I can assure you that Greg Pocock and the other owners will do everything possible to make that happen. I have been to a few functions with the new ownership and have talked to several people that have been to other functions leading up to the new ice age. Believe me, everything has been first class.
I have talked to the majority owners (Greg Pocock and Ray Fortier), team management (Andy Beasley, Todd Harkins and Mark Holick) and all have been extremely friendly and very approachable. Although they will not turn this team around in one year, I fully believe that they will do so in the next few years with their young draft picks. Present players and future draft picks will want to become a Prince George Cougar.
However, to make this work, we need fans in the stands to support the kids. The bigger the support, the more success they will have. Even if you cannot be a season ticket holder, they have great ticket packages for all. Even if you can only make a few games I am sure the players would appreciate that as well. Remember, no matter what the Prince George cougar management does, it won't work if hockey fans don't support the team.
