FanCon a more personable event

I will freely admit I am a grown up geek and I for one was very happy Northern FanCon was here.

I will freely admit I am a grown up geek and I for one was very happy Northern FanCon was here.

The costumes alone were worth the price of admission and the vendors, artists, professional cosplayers and the meet and greets of famous and professional voice actors were just some of the more entertaining facets of the Fancon.

While this venue is small compared to the bigger cities, many of the actors, cosplayers and vendors enjoy it as it is more personable and easier to engage people one on one.

Karl Urban, Alicia Witt and Kevin Sorbo appeared to really enjoy themselves here and

the ability to just talk without being overwhelmed with adoring fans and take an honest interest in the area and people was a real plus.

Garrett Wang, Kris Holden Ried and LeVar Burton who were at last year's FanCon said pretty much the same thing and they enjoyed their time here a lot.

As this is still a relatively new event here in town, it is still in its infancy per se and, outside of Edmonton, is the largest FanCon held in the north and it was nice to see attendees from all over B.C., Alberta and as far away as Ontario and California attend to enjoy the sights and sounds.

Hopefully this can only get bigger and better as time goes on. Kudos to the event organizers and volunteers as well as it isn't an easy job to organize and deal with the public.
