Entrepreneurs should take a leap (of faith)

I am sick and tired of entrepreneur types asking for tax holidays when they invest in this city. Used to be if you had some money to invest , you took your chance. Sometimes you lost it and sometimes you made a fortune.

The new entrepreneurs prefer to hedge their bets, get a grant from one or both senior levels of government and then go to local government for another break.

Harry Backlin says its OK because other councils have handed these sweet deals to investors. I say its not OK. Whatever these folk build, it is going to require servicing by the local council and they ought to pay just like the rest of us.

But we are creating jobs, they shout!

I ,and others like me, spend our money in this community and create way more jobs by doing so than any of these capitalist wimps. Do you hear any of us asking for a tax break?

We are adult enough to know that taxes are payment for services. Time these investors learned the same lesson. If they think they can make a buck building in the airport area, then let them go ahead. But if they want their backs covered before they invest, I would prefer they went somewhere else.
