As a non-profit organization, the Prince George & District Elizabeth Fry Housing Society would like to take this opportunity to respond to the July 22, 2015 letter regarding service dogs.
The Elizabeth Fry Society has always complied with the law and has never discriminated against any tenant with a guide/ service dog. We have had several tenants over the years who have had and still have service and guide dogs. We welcome the new legislation that was passed as of late April 2015.
The Guide Dog and Service Dog Act clarifies that all service dogs are covered under the new legislation. The Elizabeth Fry Housing Society is always concerned with the rights of all tenants and will ensure our full support with the newly introduced Guide Dog and Service Dog Act which establishes high and consistent standards for the public and certification requirements for the dogs. In order to avoid any confusion we have changed our signage to include service dogs.
