Editorial really stung

It is not often I write to our local paper as I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion, however Mr. Godbout's editorial struck a chord with me regarding the lack of volunteering and helping out in communities.

It is not often I write to our local paper as I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion, however Mr. Godbout's editorial struck a chord with me regarding the lack of volunteering and helping out in communities. It always has been the 80-20 rule where 20 per cent of the people do 80 per cent of the work, but it really stings and is insulting to say people are now more busy than say 20 years ago and can no longer spend as much time volunteering. What a load of mule muffins.

Darrell Hubbell, Monica Peacock and Baljit Sethi have extremely busy lives and businesses to run but the countless hours they donate to the benefit of our communities is inspirational to say the least. It takes many years to build a core group of volunteers for any society and it's sad when a group like the Mardi Gras has to call it a day. The next time you attend any great event in our city hosted by a group of volunteers , and you happen to disagree with any aspect of the event, consider volunteering with that group to make it better the following year, and if you will not volunteer it's best to keep quiet.
