Your editorial column recently said those calling for an inquiry into the handling of Afghan prisoners are traitors. The writer then calls any Liberal, NDP, Civil Liberties Union, CBC, Toronto Star, civil servant, Afghan interpreter, and their like-minded friends as self-serving traitors, despicable parasites, and intellectual cowards out to destroy our will to fight and support our troops.
Basically anybody who disagrees with him is a traitor and more. I call whoever wrote that a gutless bigot.
The writer then evokes the images and reality of dead or maimed soldiers and those with post-traumatic stress to justify his opinion and infer that any other opinion calls into question the soldier's competency and honour. I don't question the soldier's competency or honour - I question that of the column writer. A gutless bigot who doesn't sign his name to his article.
I have no love for the gutless Afghan enemy dressed as civilians who kill the easily-identified uniformed soldier. I have no love for the corrupt party that this writer calls a democratic Afghan government. I also have no tolerance for a Canadian government as secretive and abusive of parliamentary procedure as the arrogant Harper clan.
If we were aware of torture, it is nothing compared to what the other side does. War is hell. Don't lie to me and hide that fact. I understand war is hell. Lying doesn't change that.
