Dredge the Nechako River

When we have extended periods of cold, the ice builds up on the Nechako River and as it moves towards the confluence with the Fraser, it allows flooding to happen at the homes in those areas.

When we have extended periods of cold, the ice builds up on the Nechako River and as it moves towards the confluence with the Fraser, it allows flooding to happen at the homes in those areas. In my opinion, the residents should not have to live year in and year out with their backsides covered and wonder if this will be another year to flood.

This issue is not a new issue and it seems to me that a lot of the city fathers don't want to touch avenues of a possible solution. The solution is not new and has been talked about many times and councils as far back as the fifties addressed the solution by very effective dredging. To say that it can't be done is a bunch of crap with today's equipment and technical expertise and respective of the fish windows, the solution is achievable and properly done with the right operators could be very profitable.

A large amount of gravel could be recovered and as in the past, gold as well. With this and other unsolved problems if all the bright minds within the city council and staff were put in a positive way on how to solve problems rather than the negative of how not to make them work would benefit everybody with a lot less toil.
