Downtown parking costs don't add up

Perhaps I am not reading your Oct. 30 article correctly, but to me it is stating that $450,000 be included in the 2014 capital plan to purchase the licence-plate recognition system.

Perhaps I am not reading your Oct. 30 article correctly, but to me it is stating that $450,000 be included in the 2014 capital plan to purchase the licence-plate recognition system. In this same article, the DBIA states it has looked into this technology, support the concept, and reported that for $80,000 to $90,000 the city could purchase everything needed to get this program up and running. I suggest that the city contract with the DBIA to go ahead and purchase the needed system on the city's behalf and save the taxpayers $360,000 in the process.
