I was appalled when I read the small, ominous article tucked away on Page 5 that stated, "City councilor's pay was ... increased from $23,888.22 in 2011 to $30,929.30 in 2012."
While everyone else is expected to take little or no wage increases, and jobs and services are being cut, it is atrocious to see our "fiscally responsible" councilors taking a 29 1/2 per cent wage increase.
These obscene salary increases are usually self-granted by executives of banks, corporations and provincial politicians.
When will civic officials lead by example and not double standards?
