As a resident of area F, I would like to express my concern over the upcoming referendum vote on Feb. 16 if a pool should be built in Vanderhoof.
The proposed pool will result in a 19 per cent tax increase and a further 5.25 per cent the provincial government charges to collect the tax which equates to over 24 per cent for thirty years. A 24 per cent property tax increase for thirty years is neither fair or sustainable. We as residents of area F are being told to pay for 28 per centof the swimming pool costs, when in reality our usage of the pool will be closer to 0 per cent as we live at the pool of our choice called Cluculz Lake.
We already pay a premium in property tax to live on the lake and certainly cannot afford another 24 per cent tax increase on top of what we already pay. Please use common sense and vote against the referendum for a pool we can't afford and most of us won't use, and don't force us to move from our homes because of unrealistic expectation from us taxpayers.
