I am writing in response to Danielle Code's letter regarding the Haldi Road area.
I am in disbelief that she has made such a generalization of the people who live out there and even stating she wouldn't want to raise her child in such an ignorant area.
Yes there are people opposed to the rehab centre but there are also people who are not. You have judged without really knowing the people who live out there. I used to attend Haldi Road elementary school and grew up in the area. I met a lot of life-long friends while living out there who are good people and still have family living out there.
You have taken what you have read in the paper and decided to judge poorly of all who are out there. If you want to know something, I am not sure I would want to live by someone so willing to judge people she has never met or talked to, and in effect you have contradicted your whole statement in your letter.
Maybe I misread your letter in that you were only wanting to shame the people opposed. There are still many questions about this rehab centre that the no and even the yes people that live there want to know and they shouldn't be shunned for what you would take as ignorance, when what I believe they are looking for is more information.
Unless you have gone out and talked to all the people who live out there yourself I don't think it is fair of you to judge. I love Haldi Road and would be proud to call it my neighborhood again.
