BCTF president Susan Lambert has recently been quoted saying "Clearly the Liberals believe teachers' rights to bargain and students' rights to quality classroom conditions must be sacrificed to management's right to reduce thousands of teaching positions in B.C." I support the teachers right to negotiate fair pay and fair benefits, but please do not hide it behind a thin veil of doing the right thing for our children. If you want an wage increase simply state it. If you want improved benefits simply state it. If you want reduced class sizes simply state it. The teachers job action only effects the most vulnerable and marginal students and interferes with their rights to quality classroom conditions in the most basic form, a report card.
