I would like to take this opportunity to comment on the current controversy regarding texting and driving.
My four-month-old daughter was struck by a vehicle being driven by a woman who was texting and driving. We were at the crosswalk she didn't see us till it was too late.
Everyday, I head to work I can count at least four people I see texting on their cell phones while their vehicles are in motion, or while at a stop sign or stop light.
More recently however, I was in a school zone and once again much to my dismay I again counted three people texting while driving through a school zone.
What people don't realize is that two seconds you take off the road to read a text, is two seconds a kid could run in front of your vehicle.
Its two seconds less reaction time you have. This is not a joke people.
Our governments need to take notice. Our drunk driver punishments are working. Why can't we apply the same punishment to distracted drivers?
If you think it won't happen to you, think again. No one can predict when a kid or animal is going to run out in front of their vehicle. No one can predict that today they are going to be struck by a vehicle being driven by a person who was texting.
One thing we can predict however, is that if you are texting while driving, you will injure someone.
Again if you think this isn't true, maybe you should just stop driving.
I mean common sense people. Give your heads a shake.
