Digging in couch for education change

Today I heard a taxpayer funded government ad on the radio extolling the virtues of the Learning Improvement Fund (LIF) that the government is proposing to answer for their contract stripping legislation of 2002 ruling illegal by the B.C. Supreme Court.

The fund proposes $165 million over four years to hire more teaching assistants to replace the $275 million per year in funding illegally stripped to fund a tax break in 2002.

How much does this government care about learning conditions?

Let us break down the LIF to see. Next year the LIF is to inject $30 million into the system to improve learning. How thin will that money be spread?

With 565,000 students in school for 186 days each, it amounts to 29 cents per day per student. How much does the Liberal government care about learning conditions?

They are willing to throw all the money they find under the couch cushions at the problem.
