Crime rate doesn’t reflect the real P.G.

This morning, listening to CBC radio from Kelowna, I heard that Prince George had the highest crime rate in the country. Kelowna came in eighth, but the commentator excused their high rate because of the extra summer visitors.

Could the Prince George rate be blamed on having two jails housing people from all over B.C., who, on finishing their sentence, often stay in Prince George?

Many years ago we lived in Prince George and still have ties to your city as one of our sons lives there. I was a recent visitor who had gone shopping downtown. Walking back to my son's home, I sat down on a bench below Connaught Hill for a rest.

I accidentally left my purse behind and didn't miss it until an hour or more later.

When I phoned the police I found someone had turned it in. Everything was there including money and credit cards. I don't know if I would have been so lucky if this had happened in another town.

I would like to say thank you to that Prince George citizen who turned the purse in.

Thank you!
