I would like to send this letter out to the parents who sent their child to a summer day camp all week last week knowing that child had pink eye!! Now because YOUR job was so important that you could not stay home with your sick and contagious child I will and who knows how many other parents will have to take time off this week. Hopefully things will be cleared up enough so that summer plans for this week are not totaly ruined. Yes the kids "feel" fine and can run around and play but they are contagious and maybe the next kid will have it worse! This is something you have to consider when you 1)have a child- your plans get disrupted sometimes and 2) when you put that child in a public program. Parents if you can't or won't stay home with your kids when they are sick please do not put them in public programs. Be respectful of the others in the program and the leaders, if your child is sick BE HONEST and let the staff know. Let me know if you will be paying the wages for the parents who now miss work because they are responsible and stay home.
