Conjecture with a side of pessimism

Here we are a little bit better than a year since our last municipal election and city hall reminds me of an episode right out of Star Trek. Especially since mayor and council, in my opinion, have adopted the role of the almighty Federation.

That being what I think and this being purely conjecture, it's only a matter of time before administration could next perhaps be alienated like a bunch of Ferengi if they haven't been already.

With that said they should probably revert to somewhat like a hoard of "cloaking Klingons" (pun intended) for their own protection and rightly so.

Back to reality. Because what I'm going to tell you is serious business and not a laughing matter.

History repeats itself.

Our mayor is the very man that was chair of the school board when the equivalent of 84 full time jobs were lost at the school district.

They (administration) had better strive to remain under the radar, starting with the city manager. At the rune of some 200k (plus) per year I'd be clinging on, too.

The only things that are written in stone are epitaphs.

So administration would be well advised to mind their Ps and Qs, bar their Ts and dot their Is. Because they are non-scheduled employees and can be sent packing just as sure as if their names were Beth James. Not withstanding the city's non-scheduled employees I also without a doubt pity the CUPE scheduled employees that also work for the city. And I wish that I could indefinitely postpone the expiration of their contracts at the end of next year. Because (and mark my words) it is going to suck to be some of them after the future negotiations are all said and done.

In closing I am for the most part an optimist but in these uncertain times a bit of pessimism is not without its merits.

After all, forewarned is forearmed.
