Bob Zimmer's, (MP for Prince George-Peace River), lack of concern for protecting our freedoms, as expressed in the Citizen's 24 October 2014 article "Common Chaos", is alarming. We should all be very concerned about Harper's plan to fast track legislation that would drastically increase police powers under the cover of the tragic death of Nathan Cirillo. What a terrible irony it will be if his dying protecting Canada's sacred symbol of freedom leads to freedom's loss. With respect, our freedoms are ours, not Mr. Zimmer's, nor Mr.Harper's. Canadians demonstrated how dignified, effective, and measured we are under pressure. We need to maintain that focus, not overreact, and design an appropriate response that strengthen's, not diminishes, our freedoms.
