Comet lander a marvellous toy

After travelling for 10 years on an incredible six billion kilometre journey, humanity's marvellous little lander performed most of its assigned tasks before drifting off to sleep in the shadow of an unfortunately situated cliff on the conglomeration of elemental galactic material known as Comet 67P.

The engineering ingenuity required to complete such a complex mission boggles the mind.

I am as wide-eyed and awestruck as that "wee little lad" in Tom Paxton's song, The Marvellous Toy.

Perhaps you recall the refrain: "It went zip when it moved, and bop when it stopped, and whirrr when it stood still. I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will."

Hopefully Comet 67P will become reoriented to the Sun and the marvellous toy will get a chance to re-charge its battery and call home.
