CN considering oil by rail

Enbridge needs a transport system and CN holds historic rights to build works to transport goods or services across Canada. In fact the so-called "railway rights of way" are federally deeded lands and CN can virtually ignore provincial or municipal rules and regulations. Why worry?

I was approaching a rail crossing near Upper Fraser when a train whistle alerted me to an oncoming freight on Sept. 22.

I estimated 275 cars passed. Now 275 cars is a long freight train and could plug crossings here in Prince George and could easily result in accidents in the Miworth- Otway area. I question how rare traffic patterns and emergency routes are or will be effected should the trains have right of way over road traffic.

With CN having the right to haul tar sands material one might have the scenario that CN provides a pipeline to the coast perhaps on CN R/W on behalf of Enbridge.
