City utility bill increase shocking

It was with shock and dismay that I opened my utility bill from the City of Prince George. I could not believe my eyes when I saw that my bill had gone up $100. This means by the time I get my bill in the fall it will be another $100 and so it now will cost me 878.56 for water, sewage and garbage.

The saddest part of all is that I will now be forced to cancel my curbside recycling program because that costs me another $178 per year.

It seems to me that the City of Prince George doesn't care a bit about recycling any ways. If they did they would include a curbside recycling program with these fee increases.

I feel very sorry for old age pensioners and single income earners. When will these hikes stop? It is becoming apparent to me with our city taxes set to rise as well that when my husband and myself retire in a few short years we will not be able to afford to keep our home as we will be on a fixed income.

This has been by far the worst city council ever to be elected. What happened to Mayor Green's campaign slogan "We cannot keep going to the taxpayers and asking them to pay more."

If I have to pay these exorbitant fees you can bet that my garbage can instead of being half full, with the other half going to recycling, will now be full to the brim.
