City shouldn't ignore the library

I am absolutely outraged regarding the revelations penned by Neil Godbout in his Feb. 23 editorial (Public library wrote the book on frugality).

Shame on city council for their total disregard of this wonderful facility and its many programs and services for Prince George residents of all ages and walks of life. One has to wonder why city council over the last 21 years has ignored the pressing needs of this facility. It obviously has never been deemed a priority.

Why would this be?

Do these people in city hall not read?

Do they not have children and grandchildren that make use of the many child literacy programs that the library has to offer?

Do they not know anyone who is unable to own their own computer and must make use of the library's computers to facilitate essential communication in this new online world? What can one say? It is just baffling beyond compare.

Come on, city council, redeem yourself and upgrade that library entrance. When that day comes, if it comes, I for one, as a longtime library patron, will be standing in the crowd with scores of others singing Etta James' At Last.
