City council on self-destruct?

I am mortified by the magnitude of problems arising from the chambers of city council. The use of the "alternate approval" process, the brainchild of Gordon Campbell, is candidly deviant.

The trial of Brian Skakun should have, and could have been avoided, allowing the lawyer fees to be rerouted toward the winter games.

The Columbus Hotel costs could have been diverted into that as well; as could the money that was wasted on the PG Hotel and the downtown casino.

Had these moneys been responsibly allotted, there would be no reason for a "games tax."

Why this council continues on the path to self-destruction is beyond logic.

Perhaps the old custom of the present mayoral incumbent being reelected will be discarded soon.
