City and regional district need to stay away from logging

On Nov. 22 we attended the Prince George Cattlemen's Association meeting. Our guest speaker was a representative from the City of Prince George and a guest from the Regional District of Fraser Fort George. Main topic was around community forests.

On Nov. 22 we attended the Prince George Cattlemen's Association meeting.

Our guest speaker was a representative from the City of Prince George and a guest from

the Regional District of Fraser Fort George.

Main topic was around community forests.

Reason: To form a forest partnership with Prince George Cattlemen's Association,

Farmers Institutes, Regional District of Fraser Fort George and the City of Prince George.

Crown Lands will be logged and a trust fund put aside to cover costs for future agriculture

production (i.e. - stumping, piling, burning, discing, and root-raking) This money set aside is to be used by future farmers or ranchers to clear such lands for farming.

At this time ranchers and farmers do not need more land as much land is now laying

unused and growing up in brush and weeds. At the present time on the Prairies vast tracts

of land are being purchased by foreign investors.

One question? Will foreign investors such as European and Chinese investors snap up a

good deal and get the money set aside from the sale of timber to prepare lands for

agriculture use?

Money has already been spent on timber cruising and accountants etc.

Our other cncern is what and why should city or regional district have anything to do with

logging. They already have their own interests to look after, such as struggling with pot holes and snow removal, only to mention two.

We feel the tax-paying citizens of Prince George should know.

Being ranchers in this area since 1955, we do understand and have knowledge in

ranching and in cattle as well as logging.
