In an online poll, the Citizen asked readers: Would you like to see tougher penalties on residents who don't do their part to reduce bear encounters?
Here are the results:
753 votes (61%) - Yes, absolutely no excuse for people to not remove attractants from their property.
348 votes (28%) - No, there is only so much residents can do.
89 votes (7%) - Maybe, city bylaw and conservation officers busy enough already
51 votes (4%) - Not sure
