Re: letter by Ray Masson (Artist responds to cartoon outcry) published on Wednesday.
At first brush, I cannot help but see the irony of both the cartoon and the explanation of why we should all accept it as wholesome and pay for our subscription to view such ignorance that does nothing but incite hatred towards Christians.
In the cartoon of the rejected Saviour, the artist depicts the Saviour with bandages around his hands, so he must be referring to his crucifixion on the cross. But does the artist understand the reason he was crucified?
In the artist's letter he mentions "radical Christianity." The word radical means; "relating to or affecting the fundamental nature of something; far-reaching or thorough."
Now the irony - Jesus was rejected by His own because His doctrine was a radical departure from the status quo of the day. This became the impetus for His crucifixion; with a glorious conclusion that made Him the Saviour to all who will believe on Him.
