"Look, as I say, we could drive ourselves crazy with grief if we look at as I say the millions of people literally who are in danger, the tens of thousands who are dying. We could drive ourselves crazy with grief," Stephen Harper said.
Nope, we won't drive ourselves crazy with grief. We look because we are people with basic empathy. When someone is in danger or dying it is a normal response to look and do what we can to be helpful. It is psychotic to not look in order to avoid grief.
Canadians value humanitarian work of disaster response and providing homes for refugees.
Many of our families were new immigrants or refugees a few generations ago too and we benefited from finding a home here.
We won't drive ourselves crazy with grief and we won't look away when people are in danger or dying. We will act. We will vote.
