Canada is a Bible-based country

As I type this response regarding your editorial in Saturday's paper, I am looking at the words of our national anthem. Three times you will find these words: "O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Standing on guard for our country is not limited to military responses, but also standing up for the social mores which make up our open and free society, that helps make Canada one of the greatest countries to live in. This is demonstrated almost every day by those fleeing countries that persecute their own citizens.

Canadians have every right to speak up about any issue, for we live in a free country that our forefathers shed their blood to preserve. Your labeling of such as "right-wing intolerance" is a hyperbole, self made by such people as yourself. Who is left-wing and who is right-wing? Who makes such labels?

Our country and its laws are rooted in the Bible, so this "Bible-thumping" assault that you are promoting in your paper is an attack on the foundations that make our country so great.

Why use the word "bigot?"

Just because people may not agree with something or question such, is that cause to label them a "bigot?" Canada is perhaps one of the most free countries in the world, governed by our Constitution and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, by which all it's citizens are protected.

Why should one look for some type of special status? Are we not all Canadian?
