Business support comes a little late

Just read an old paper while visiting Prince George. A recent Citizen news item says the Prince George Chamber of Commerce supports the recent increase of the minimum wage.

Just read an old paper while visiting Prince George.

A recent Citizen news item says the Prince George Chamber of Commerce supports the recent increase of the minimum wage.

It quotes chamber president Roy Spooner as saying this suggests chamber member businesses care a lot about their employees and recognize that $8 dollars is not enough to make a living.

I'd rather he told us what prevented these businesses from paying better wages these past 10 years, without having to be legislated into it.

And I do wonder why a fluff item garners page one coverage.
