Response to increase in business license fees.
Dear mayor and council,
The planned permit increase from $150 per owner to $150 per rental unit is gouging. According to The Citizen article Rob Whitman wants to pay for a vehicle for the bylaw department out of it and bylaw staffing, but do you understand that as a voter who has five rental units I may not be able to afford it? Repairs, tenants who skip rent or damage property, existing taxes which I understand are rising too, and now a huge increase to the cost of permits annually make it challenging for us locals.
Invest in us, the voters and not foreign investors.
