Please put Aboriginal teaching assistants back in the schools. Our children are failing. Look at the report cards.
Who decided to terminate the Aboriginal teaching assistants and replace them with more Aboriginal education workers?
We do not need two and three Aboriginal education workers in the schools. Our schools have councillors. We also have social workers.
Please hire our elders to come into the schools and teach our sons and daughters their culture. The elders have the knowledge, plus they could use the extra income. Our children need the extra help with reading and math skills if we expect them to continue on to higher education.
Right now, many of our children are frustrated and have drastically fallen behind their peers. That is why they end up dropping out of school.
We desperately need our Aboriginal teaching assistants back in our schools helping our sons and daughters to be successful.
