I read the front page story about Beth James and her departure from her position in Parkland, Alta., recently.
From what I understand, and please correct me if I am wrong... Beth James was a unanimous choice by the previous mayor and council. She was asked to do a job and the results were that she left the city in a better financial position then when she started.
A little more than a year into her term, our city elected a new mayor with a new direction.
Seven of the original council members who hired here her were re-elected and shortly after, James was asked to leave. As per her agreement, she was afforded the appropriate severance.
After that, she moved on with her life to continue doing the best job she can.
So then, why hound her by reporting on something that doesn't have any benefit to anyone? This story will follow her and Prince George looks like a vindictive, small town.
Now, in defense (how small it may be), I heard a couple reports on the radio to the same, a few sentences with only a few facts, and let the public build on it from there.
I can only hope that most readers with common sense will not pay any attention to this type of reporting.
Unfortunately, as we see at the supermarket checkouts it is alive and well.
Please Prince George, let us spend so much time to improving ourselves by helping others that we do not have time to throw garbage, especially from such a long way back, and take a look at your hands once you have... Thanks.
