Basis for Whitcombe’s argument is wrong from the start

Re: Todd Whitcombe on gun registry I would like to point out to Mr. Whitcombe that the basis for his entire argument is wrong. He is arguing about licensing, when the gun debate currently is about the registry, something entirely different.

Re: Todd Whitcombe on gun registry

I would like to point out to Mr. Whitcombe that the basis for his entire argument is wrong.

He is arguing about licensing, when the gun debate currently is about the registry, something entirely different.

In short, individuals are licensed when they complete a police background check and demonstrate knowledge about firearms. Firearms are registered by inputting information about the firearm -- barrel length, action type, serial number, etc. -- into an RCMP computer database in New Brunswick.

It seems that non-gun owners don't have to demonstrate knowledge about firearms before forming an opinion.

It must be more than a little embarrassing to build up your entire argument on a completely wrong understanding and have it published in a newspaper where everyone can see your mistake.

This would be especially embarrassing if he were someone whose professional credibility relied on researching the facts of an issue before drawing a conclusion.
