Subject: Sears employees.
The laws need altering such that employees, their pensions and severance benefits come prior to all other creditors. Recall these people paid into those pensions for years - they should not be Sear's property.
It is shameful and unfair that big banks etc. - who often make billions in profits - come before employees who may have given their working lives to their company.
This is not the first bankruptcy where employees are left out in the cold. And our society pays in taking up that slack in terms of increased social costs to help the laid off employees.
My heart really feels for those people in Prince George that are being so unfairly treated.
Not by Sears, but the laws we have protecting creditors ahead of people.
Climate change - we have got to deal with it.
Here in B.C. we had the worst fire year on record, plus flooding. These weather extremes are entirely predicted along with the associated effects we are experiencing.
We need to achieve our international emission promises at the Paris Accord. This will mean regulation changes to get the big emitters to reduce or phase then out. This means wean ourselves from coal entirely; regulate cement emissions; stop funding big oil and help green technologies. We can't do this on the good will/professional reliance model.
Changes in laws are needed. Get the low hanging fruit.
