September has always felt like true beginning of the year. My son is heading into Grade 1 this year and he is so excited, he can hardly stand it. Like his mom, my son is a school keener and loves homework. Last year, his teacher told my husband and I that if she could keep kindergarten half as exciting as Liam thinks that it is, then she is doing OK.She did great because school is starting and he can hardly stand it and loves every day.
Our daughter is also excited because half of the older friends at daycare have aged out and have headed into kindergarten and now she is one of the "older friends" who can show the new friends where things are in the daycare. Puffed up with the responsibility, she proudly told me that she would show the new friends where you play art and where you can play in the sandbox.
For myself, I am planning on buying a new pen, repurposing an old notebook and starting graduate school at UNBC.Because life is not busy enough, I decided that it would be a great time to start my Master of Arts fegree in English with two small children and working full-time.I am cautiously optimistic that I make it to December in one piece. I have clearly chosen the right degree program for myself given that I bought my textbooks and read them already. The nice thing about studying English is that your textbooks are usually novels and, if you are like me, you may already own them. Out of the three books that I had to buy for this semester, one I already had and two were books that I was planning on reading. My textbooks came to a grand total of $36, which was significantly less than my son's school fees.
To relax on the last weekend before school starts again, my husband and I decided to power through a bathroom renovation tiling project. If I never see another mortar trowel, I would die happy.
After two exceptionally intense and long days, we are 95 per cent finished a new bathroom in the basement that is nicer than either of the bathrooms in the main living area.Guests staying at our house will be treated to a luxurious shower of epic proportions but they still won't be able to pee yet because the toilet is not installed.
We'll get that done along with one hundred thousand other things this year.
