I see that Art Betke has found a kindred spirit in Donald Trump, another climate change denier, "it's all a hoax, folks" and has decided to defend him by attacking the leadership of the Girl Guides.
He claims that the GG leaders have decided to become political (are they part of the "deranged left wingers?") and take a stand by "punishing" the children in their charge. Not protecting them but punishing them!
He obviously failed to note the incidents that concerned the leadership enough to suspend trips to the U.S. - the Canadian-born woman with a valid passport who was denied permission to enter the U.S.A., Mohammed Ali's son and his mother separated, questioned and detained for two hours while going through a checkpoint at an airport, "U.S. airports on front line as Donald Trump's ban causes chaos and protests," "confusion and despair as valid visa holders were detained at ports and airports," "U.S. legal residents detained and barred from planes or ordered out of the U.S."
The Washington Post "went nuts" about the article on Mike Pence and his wife. Art Betke's suggestion of the "very real possibility of sexual entrapment to take him down" is totally ludicrous (conspiracy theories anyone?) Bill Clinton a "left wing politician?" Maybe his wife Hillary Clinton is also.
Mr. Betke, you should have thought of the adage "better to keep one's mouth shut and be thought of as a fool than to open it and remove all doubt" before you submitted your letter.
