Appreciating Adams

I appreciate the weekly agricultural articles written by Andrew Adams. In a world of high-tech, politics and political correctness it is refreshing to hear that some people haven't forgotten that food is a necessity.

I appreciate the weekly agricultural articles written by Andrew Adams.

In a world of high-tech, politics and political correctness it is refreshing to hear that some people haven't forgotten that food is a necessity.

We, and our politicians, have been stressing the advantages of technology development. Our society and much of our economy is now dependent on trinket sales.

Look around your house and ask yourself if you really need another trinket? If you could have only four of the five following items: food, shelter, clothing, energy, cellphone - which would you pick?

Yes, there are some who could imagine spending all day in their bedroom, in the nude, playing video games on their phone, and dashing out quickly to grab a sandwich.

I am reasonably tech savvy. I spend a fair amount of time using the internet so I am not suggesting we do away with technology.

The agricultural articles cause me to think about what is important and be reminded that food is not grown at the grocery store.

I am not a gardener but intend to make an attempt this year.

Kudos to The Citizen for choosing to carry Andrew's column.
