Re: Mr Giede's thoughtful "tip of hat" column.

It's just silliness to suggest that

Mr. Harper didn't allow his name to be used for roadside signs out of some noble philosophy.

Campaign managers across Canada cleverly and in some cases successfully tried to distance themselves from the shipwreck that was associated with the "Harper" name.

His desperation and willingness to do anything to win was exemplified by his futile toadying up to the "Ford Nation."

Very ignoble.

To suggest that Mr. Harper is not going to join Mssrs Trudeau Sr., Mulroney and Chretien in leisure activities is equally silly. I don't know if he golfs but I suspect he'll spend more time with his organ playing and his singing group.

He'll need a new name, the Vingt Cats no longer applies as he will soon not be at 24 Sussex Drive.

In his non-leisure time I expect Mr. Harper, backed up by his generous pension which I thought he disavowed earlier in his career, will gladhand his open and grasping hands through boards of numerous oil companies. Busy busy.

It is one thing to espouse right wing philosophy, but I found this article silly and shallow.

I most certainly will not be tipping my hat, and I wear one.

I hope your next week's "further thoughts" are more clearly thought out and not just an attempted sugar coating for a very sour experience for a large percentage of Canadian people.
