Ancient Forest needs more inclusive name

The article in The Citizen referring to the Ancient Forest (Inland Temporate Rainforest) will soon be protected by being designated a Class "A" provincial park and hopefully become a World Heritage Site.

My very deep concern is naming the Ancient Forest Chun T' oh Wudujot.

In the early 1900s, when the only transportation in and out of most of the Robson Valley was by rail, European immigrants settled in this area.

These people, my parents included, endured many hardships and worked very hard at farming, logging, trapping and mining to develop communities along this east line. Many descendants still reside there.

As well as above, I would be remiss in not mentioning the many volunteers who have and continue to work so diligently on the development of this beautiful site.

It is my belief that, in honor of those hard working people past and present who developed this area, the Ancient Forest should be named The Robson Valley Ancient Forest.

Since my family and I still have property in Dome Creek, I would be very proud of this naming.
