I am a teacher in Prince George. As an educator I make certain that my personal opinions are not impressed onto children. I make certain that my personal life does not affect my job. I make certain that when I make a mistake I do not make it again. If I didn't do those things my administrator and union would take me to task.
Today I left my picket line and went to have a prescription renewed. My doctor's receptionist led me into the patient office and I waited. When the doctor opened the door he told me he didn't serve teachers there. I laughed thinking he was kidding. He clearly was not. He proceeded to ream me out for being "greedy and only caring about money". He said that if teachers cared about education and students they would get back to work. He was angry and extremely opinionated. I held in my tears and listened to his rant.
He asked me if I had anything to say for myself and all I could mutter was that I was just there for a prescription. He wrote the prescription and continued on about how we have an "idiot radical leading our union" and it's clear that teachers "don't care about children at all." I took my prescription and went to leave. He called out into the waiting room that he hoped we were back to work soon as my bank account would need it. This leaves me wondering who takes an out of line, bitter, unprofessional doctor to task?
