I am writing to express concern about how the City of Prince George handled the situation with their leased lot at Vancouver and 4th Ave. (across the street from the new RCMP station).
All the patrons of this lot received a letter dated July 29, 2013 to advise that the city was unable to re-negotiate a new lease with the property management company that owned the lot and that our parking arrangement would expire Aug. 31.
We were advised that we needed to contact the property company to determine if they were planning on making this lot available for off-street parking. I contacted the property management company and was advised that the city had in fact successfully negotiated a new lease on this property and that the city had been premature in sending out this letter. I expected another letter from the city therefore I did not contact them for a couple of weeks.
Not receiving a letter, I phoned bylaw services the week before last at which point I was told that the lot was being reserved for RCMP parking and no longer available for public off street parking. Why were we not advised of this with the letter end of July?
If we wanted to cancel our parking arrangement with the city we would have to give two months notice, where's our two months notice? To this day, we have not received anything in writing to confirm what the city intends for this lot. I think we deserve and explanation.
