I have the privilege of working in the drama department with Steve Baker at Prince George secondary school.
What a delight it was to be involved in his theatre arts' performance of Peter Pan, last week. It was an exceptional show. Mr. Baker has some extremely talented young actors at PGSS.
A few months ago, Mr. Baker invited my daughter along with his own young daughter, to perform as a lost boy in the senior acting class's production. Over the course of just one week, my daughter performed in five shows, and throughout her experience, she felt like she was vital to the heartbeat of the production. After each night and each matinee, she was exhausted, but she couldn't wait to do it all over again the following day. The reason? She couldn't wait to work with the cast and crew each day.
The students involved in the production - the actors, the stage managers, the set designers, and the directors - all made my daughter feel as if she had been part of the cast since day one, back in February. They treated her with a maturity far beyond their years, both on and off the stage.
I want to extend my gratitude to the cast and crew of Peter Pan. Because of this positive experience, I now have a little girl who not only had a wonderful theatrical experience, but is inspired to do more acting in the future. The teamwork and responsibility shown by these young people has had a positive impact on her.
Congratulations on a successful production.
