RE: June 5 editorial titled Man and Beast

I wait for the day when fighting against violence of any kind is always celebrated and never minimized. Instead, it seems that there are people like the editor who think that because there is outrage over animal cruelty, this outrage is distorted because it can be louder than outrage over human cruelty. The fight against different forms of violence should not be a contest. Your editorial would have been more enlightening with statements such as: "Let us condemn any type of cruelty against any species, both human and non-human. Let us pick a battle and fight for respect, kindness, and dignity for all, especially for those most vulnerable including children, the elderly, and non-human animals with no voice of their own. Let us see that by fighting for non-violence against all species, we are serving society as a whole." My advice to the editor - pick your own battle to fight instead of taking time to judge others in their choice.
