The three choices for Mascot for the 2015 Winter Games have been unveiled and they are all wonderful.
I hope readers will make an effort to search out the stories behind each and that the picture and stories will be prominently displayed throughout the city.
We need to support the voting for the winner and when doing so, consider how this mascot can be marketed, from stuffed animals, key chains and jewelery, to emblems on winter wear, backpacks and of course on the medals. Part of proceeds of sales will be donated to the NBC "Y", as I understand.
I was undecided how to vote until today, when I saw three eagles perched above Otway road. They were truly majestic. It must have been a sign. For this reason I am voting for Fraser the Eagle. I think it will be a magnificent representative of the ideals of the games, encouraging youth to soar to great heights of achievement. Imagine how wonderful an Aboriginal eagle design would look on a medal. We have exceptionally-talented artists here to do that work including Robert Sebastian, Angelique Levac and Keith Kerrigan. Let's hope there is some P.G. content.
