I enjoyed reading the profile of Mayor Dan Rogers and Shari Green in the Oct. 27 edition of the Prince George Citizen. It pointed out a number of inconsistencies in Ms. Green's performance that I have observed during her term on city council.
One of the key components of her platform is fiscal responsibility, yet her campaign in my view is extravagant from her signs to her headquarters. If this is how she conducts herself now, how could we expect her to change if she becomes mayor?
I would like to remind the citizens of Prince George that when Mayor Rogers voted against a salary increase for council members, Ms. Green voted in favour.
Now she is threatening jobs in city hall, what is Ms. Green thinking? A salary increase for herself and job cuts for those very people who serve Prince George?
In regards to the 2015 winter games that Mayor Rogers worked on tirelessly to bring here, and which will bring a large amount of federal funds to the area, her actions put that in jeopardy by her attempts to change the plans late in the process.
She deems it important to improve downtown, at great cost yet she suggested that the city reduce residential snow removal service.
And this in a northern community none the less. Where is the consistency in all this? Where is the sensibility?
As for the homeless problem, I support helping them but as for her comment about Portland Oregon and how they have dealt with the homeless, I haven't a clue what she is talking about as having been there in the last year and a half I can tell you the homeless situation is dire.
People were sleeping right on the sidewalks in front of trendy stores.
This again shows Ms. Green lives in a different world.
No, Shari Green will not be getting my vote or that of my family. We will be supporting Dan Rogers whose track record shows that he cares for all the many different people that make up the landscape of Prince George, the poor, middle wage earners and not just the wealthy.
