A questionable proposal

I don't understand why this hasn't been a front page story. Here we have a proposal that will pollute one of our lakes, render a regional district park useless and threaten the health of school children at SD57's newest school.

I don't understand why this hasn't been a front page story. Here we have a proposal that will pollute one of our lakes, render a regional district park useless and threaten the health of school children at SD57's newest school.

This lime kiln proposal when completed will emit around 2000 tonnes of CO2 per day as well as tonnes sulfur dioxide and rock dust from the storage piles will be blown onto the surrounding farms and lake poisoning the landscape. The school is less than 800 metres west of the kiln site. How about moving the kiln 4 km to the southeast where the rock is going to come from and eliminate the proposed conveyor belt (that may as well be a concrete wall as far as wildlife is concerned). If this plant has a life of 50 to 75 years they can afford to put a rail siding into the east end of their claims where there's no lake or school. Moreover it would be nice to see a proposal from our current age where we think about not using our atmosphere as a garbage dump and step up and sequester the CO2 into Alberta's depleted oilfields to squeeze the last drops of oil from them. Instead of this one that looks like it was written in the 1950s.
