A little room, please

I recently moved to Prince George and have just started biking to work. On my way home today, I biked along one of the quieter main roads (since the adjacent bike route was not cleared). I was riding on the road, when a truck behind me started honking. I wasn't sure why he was honking, but guessed that he thought I was taking up too much lane space. I attempted to move closer to the sidewalk - but as you all know, the closer you get to the sidewalk, the more icy and snowy it gets.

Unfortunately, I slid and completely fell off my bike. I was on the ground for what felt like an eternity (in reality, this was only 1 minute). Even though there were plenty of cars around, not one person stopped to see if I was okay. This was obviously a very upsetting experience for me, but physically I was okay and only left with mere bruises.

Prince George drivers: please respect your fellow commuters. Cyclists also deserve to be on the road. When you honk, it is very intimidating. When you see an accident and fail to check if the person is okay, it is very sad. The roads are not in the best condition, so everyone please try your best to be safe and considerate.
